Keeping Cool with Shade Sails

Last summer, we hung a shade sail from IKEA in our backyard to block the afternoon to evening sun. It made a big difference in the kitchen, which had been close to unusable in the summer heat.

This year, we bought a few Coolaroo shade sails in red, green, and blue. I placed the IKEA sail (white) in the front yard to keep the living room dimmer and cooler in the morning, and hung the three colored sails in the backyard.
