A bad smell started recently in the house -- most likely a dead rat in the crawlspace. We opened windows on the bottom floor to get the stench out, but that only helped while the windows were open. And it is freezing cold at times.
Yesterday, I braved the crawlspace to look for the source and found it right at the entrance; a dead rat. I disposed of it (a disgusting task) and the house started smelling better.
This morning when I came downstairs, I noticed a new stench. I looked around for a bit, but couldn't find anything. My son told me he saw a pile of stuff near a heating vent. I went and found what looks to be something the dog vomited. I took care of that mess.
I hope no more bad smelling items are deposited in the house.
